Welcome to the home of Cantores Olicanae, Ilkley’s leading chamber choir. We are a mixed voice choir, established in the 1970s.
Each year the choir performs four or five concerts, of major choral works, under the expert guidance of our professional conductor Robert Marsh, usually with invited soloists and with either keyboard/organ or orchestral accompaniment.
Our concert season begins in the autumn, with a concert around October or November and is then followed by our traditional family Carol Concert in December. In the following spring, we usually hold another concert or two before taking a well-earned break for the summer!
We welcome amateur singers from Ilkley and the surrounding areas. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings at St Margaret’s Church, Queen’s Road, Ilkley. If you’re interested in joining us, please click here for more details.
Cantores are now rehearsing for their Summertime Concert on June 16th 2012, to be given at St. John's Church, Ben Rhydding.
The concert will have an American flavour and will include works by Gershwin and Bernstein - a lighter touch than usual, but plenty of hard work to present masterpieces by two of the most original and stylish composers of the 20th century!
Make sure you put a note in your diaries!
